Symptoms of Pregnancy
Updated: Aug 23, 2021

There are many symptoms of pregnancy. Some will show up within a week or so after conception while others may take longer. Some women experience all, or most, of these symptoms while others may have only one or two. Some women won’t experience any!
Every woman is different and every pregnancy is different. If you have experienced pregnancy before, you may find that symptoms during a second (or third or fourth) pregnancy are new. The best way to find out if you’re pregnant is to take a pregnancy test and request an ultrasound scan. This will tell you for sure whether or not you are pregnant and how far along you are.
You may not be feeling well, or you may be concerned after you have had unprotected sex, and these signs and symptoms may indicate you should take a pregnancy test. The most common pregnancy symptoms are:
Missed period
Tender/swollen breasts
Nausea (with or without vomiting)
Increased urination
Fatigue
There are some other, somewhat less common, symptoms of pregnancy. They include:
Moodiness
Bloating
Light spotting
Cramping
Constipation
Food aversion
Nasal congestion
You may have a few of these symptoms or none at all. Either way, if you’re concerned about pregnancy you should take a urine pregnancy test. You can buy these in almost any store or you can schedule an appointment online for a free test at Alpha Omega Center. If you have questions, you can also text us at 724.698.2689.

These pregnancy tests work by looking for a hormone called hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) in your urine. This hormone is often called “the pregnancy hormone.”
While the presence of this hormone, and a positive result on a urine pregnancy test, is an excellent indication that you could be pregnant, it is important to confirm your pregnancy with an ultrasound scan. The ultrasound scan will show you whether or not you are pregnant, whether the pregnancy is progressing normally, and determine exactly how far along you are.
